Environmental Conservation

Protecting our natural heritage to secure livelihoods, health, and climate resilience for future generations.

Program Overview

Widespread deforestation for charcoal and timber, combined with unpredictable climate shifts, has severely threatened agricultural yields and water sources in Northern Uganda. Environmental degradation directly leads to poverty.

Our Environmental Conservation program mobilizes communities, particularly youth and schools, to take active roles in restoring their environment. We facilitate large-scale tree planting, establish community woodlots, and promote fuel-efficient stoves to reduce reliance on forest resources.

Success Stories

Community environmental meeting
Reclaiming Our Soil
"We used to cut trees indiscriminately to survive. KIFA helped us set up a village woodlot and taught us that planting trees is planting rain. Our streams run longer into the dry season now."
School assembly for environment
Youth Eco-Warriors
"Our school eco-club manages a nursery of 5,000 seedlings. The students take seedlings home, educating their parents on conservation. The next generation is leading the change."
